The UK markets closed lower; the FTSE 100 lost 1.72%.

The United Kingdom stock market fell after Friday’s close, with shares in the Automobiles & Parts, Banking, and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors leading the losses.

At the close of the London Stock Exchange, Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell by 1.72%, reaching its lowest level in a month.

Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), trading below the Investing.com United Kingdom 100, showed the best performance of the session, rising by 1.35% or 9.60 points to trade at 722.20. Meanwhile, BT Group PLC (LON:BT) rose by 0.71% or 1.05 points to trade at 148.35, and National Grid PLC (LON:NG) rose by 0.62% or 6.50 points to trade at 1.00.

Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) showed the worst performance of the session, falling by 6.53% or 31.50 points to close at 451.10. Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) fell by 6.45% or 90.00 points to trade at 1.00, while Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) fell by 5.63% or 47.00 points to trade at 788.20.

The number of declining stocks on the London Stock Exchange was 1572, while advancing stocks numbered 328. Additionally, 359 stocks remained unchanged.

April Gold Futures rose by 1.72% or $31.55, trading at $1,00 per ounce. On the other hand, April WTI Crude Oil Futures in commodities rose by 1.28% or $0.97 per barrel, trading at $76.69. Meanwhile, May Brent Crude Oil Futures rose by 1.42% or $1.16 per barrel, trading at $82.75.

GBP/USD rose by 1.04%, trading at 1.20, while EUR/GBP remained unchanged at 0.88.

Dollar Index Futures fell by 0.78%, trading at 104.48.
