New information about Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has been leaked!

New information about Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the sequel to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, has been leaked. With this information, the processor can close a significant shortfall.

Qualcomm, the mobile processor giant, is preparing to launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 after the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, developed for high-end smartphones and tablets. Digital blogger Ice Universe has leaked some news about the upcoming processor. These reports provide information about the date of the processor’s release and many more features. Here are the details.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to offer AV1 video codex support

Qualcomm is among the leading names in the mobile processor market. Despite this, the company is not catching up with the industry in some respects. An example of this is AV1 support in Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This will change with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which will be introduced in the second half of 2022, according to blogger Ice Universe’s Twitter account.

According to reports, the processor produced by TSMC will offer AV1 (AOMedia Video 1) video kodek support. Supported by YouTube and Netflix, kodek prepares the same quality in a lower size. This provides a higher return for everyone. It’ll also be better in terms of power control. According to Samsung, which produces the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 888, TSMC has a higher rate of return. That’s why the company is now partnering with TSMC.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus may come in the coming months

At the same time, according to leaks, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 have been transferred to TSMC for phones coming out this year. Recently, the company launched the Snapdragon X70 5G processor, which integrates with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This processor is among the best in terms of 5G connectivity.

It also provides better performance to smartphones. In addition, there is a possibility that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus will arrive in the coming months. For now, this processor is not expected to have AV1 support.
